A Glimpse Into The Life Of A Sweat Gland

We established in the last lesson that your sweat factory is controlled by your sympathetic nervous system, or SNS. Your sweat glands take their orders directly from it.

We also established that though you don’t have “conscious” control over your nervous system, the “sub” conscious part of your mind takes the lead there.

We can’t control our subconscious mind as easily as our conscios mind, but the mere fact that it’s a part of our own mind, indicates that we do have some level of influence over it.

Once Josh and I had established that our subconscious controls our nervous system, we asked ourselves, “Could anything else effect the SNS? Or any part of the nervous system for that matter”

The answer turned out to be yes.

It turns out, all types of things can have a dramatic effect on your nervous system. Things like

  • Stress
  • Exercise
  • Sleep levels
  • Alcohol
  • Tobacco
  • Foods
  • Coffee

I remember Josh looking at me and saying earnestly, “Holy crap!”

This meant the sweating could be caused by any one of hundreds of little things.

So now, all of a sudden, we have this huge sweating ordeal being directed by our nervous system… which is for some reason malfunctioning… and it could be because of pretty much anything we’re doing.


Put On Your Scientist Hat

Sometimes, you have to go into science mode, and that’s exactly what we did.

Over the next several months, we conducted dozens of experiments that we thought may have a positive effect on our nervous system.

We identified some things that increased sweating as well as some things that decreased sweating. Here are 6 things that had an effect…

1. Less caffeine. If you’re a heavy sweater, you probably know this already. Caffeine isn’t exactly good for business. For best results, skip it altogether. Caffeine basically speeds up all the processes of your body, including the ones responsible for sweating. If you didn’t know this, there is a chance that simply cutting out the caffeine in your diet could help tremendously.

2. Less vegetable oils. It’s not so much that vegetable oil sucks as it is that olive oil rocks. Olive oil is much easier on your body’s digestive system, whereas veggie oils cause traffic jams. If you haven’t already switched over to olive oil, I recommend it. It is more expensive, but it’s worth it. If for some reason you can’t make the switch, try to consume less veggie oil.

3. Less high fructose corn syrup. I dunno if you’ve heard all the hype about high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS), but the stuff is no good. And when we cut it out from our diet, we saw a nice sweat reduction along with feeling much better in general. (HFCS is a sweetener found in just about everything. If you’re not sure whether or not something has HFCS in it, just read the ingredients. If HFCS is listed as one of the top 3 ingredients, skip that item.)

4. More leafy greens. Dark green leafy veggies like spinach and herbs like sage, thyme, dill weed, and others are extremely beneficial to our bodies. Eating more of them definitely promotes a healthy nervous system. Many Bye-Bye Sweating success stories attribute their victory almost exclusively to sage – it’s a must.

5. More sleep. No surprise here, your body likes sleep. And most of us don’t get enough of it. The amount of sleep you should have varies from person-to-person, but you could almost definitely use more, particularly if you’re following this program. Sleep time is a time when your body heals itself. Your conscious mind is in lala land, and your subconscious finally has some time to get some work done.

6. St. Johns Wort. This is a natural antidepressant, in case you’ve not heard of it. It works similarly to other antidepressants in that it helps regulate our brain’s seratonin levels (seratonin is a hormone that is responsible for the feeling of happiness). St. Johns Wort can help you feel better about your life, reduce the amount of stress you feel, and thus have a positive health impact.

YCutting some of these things out individually will surely be helpful for you. But for best results, try doing them ALL together.

When you COMBINE these 6 thing togethers, you get the benefit of each individually, PLUS the benefit of the combination of the 6.

So it’s compounded. It’s like 36x the benefit as opposed to just 6.

Try it and you’ll see. A lot of people that start the program find that just after doing this, they start sweating much less.
