Sage Tea As Treatment For Excessive Sweating and Hyperhidrosis

Hey there,

I’m wondering about sage tea as a potential treatment for excessive sweating and hyperhidrosis.

I would like to start with drinking Sage-tea. But how long can I do it?

I hear you shouldn’t drink sage teas too much because of this ingredient “Thujon” (I hope this is word exists also in english).

Hopefully I didn’t over-read that information in your article.

I’ve heard that the best way to use sage tea as a treatment for excessive sweating is to drink it for 2 or 3 weeks (a liter daily), then stop for 2 or 3 weeks, and then start again.

For me this would be great for some other reasons too. Do you think this could also work?

I would be happy to hear from you.

Cathy

P.S. And thanks for your website. I once started with autogenous training (like visualization, hypnosis, affirmations, etc.) to treat hyperhidrosis, then forgot it, and now you motivated me again =)

    Hello Cathy,

Thanks for your question about sage tea as a potential hyperhidrosis treatment.

You can drink sage tea safely as a treatment for excessive sweating for as long as you’d like. The only thing you have to be careful with (with regard to this “Thujon”) is the amount of time that you steep an individual pot of tea.

If you allow the sage to steep in the tea for an extended period of time, then it releases a toxin called Thujon that is potentially dangerous.

I wouldn’t let the sage seep in the water for any more than ten minutes or so before drinking.

I’ve never heard of that specific formula you’re describing with two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off. Where’d you hear about that?

What I do know is that herbal remedies for hyperhidrosis do take time to have an effect. The best results are obtained from consistent, continual use.

I’m not sure if staggering your consumption of the tea like that, in cycles, would be more effective. I imagine that so long as you do several cycles, it will be effective.
If I were you, I’d probably just drink a cup or two a day. And I’d cool it before drinking.

    Hope this helps.

P.S. I’m glad I got you back into autogenous training. It’s one of the most powerful anti-sweat remedies. Talk to you soon.

    Hey Chris.

Thank you very much for your help. That formula is recommemded by some german websites/articles referring to exessive sweating. But I’m quite sure, that they suggest this short period of sage drinking just because to be careful with Thujon.
I heard different opinions about Thujon, and I think that sagetea (if it’s used in the right way, like you describe it) is safe, whereas if you take sagetea-extract (based on alkohol)or essential sage oil for a longer time can be really dangerous, because of a higher concentracion of thujon.

I don’t want to drink the sagetea in cycles to make it more effective, but for other reasons. But it would take time to explain and go beyond the scope of this commend ;)But it has something to do with woman’s ovulation.. (sage possible regulates it; but if a female reads this, don’t worry about it, especially if you never worried about your ovulation yet. You can drink sage every day, just in my case, I would like it drink in cycles.)
If someone wanna know, of course, I’m willing to explain..

    Bye, Cathy

    Hello,

I just started taking sage leaf capsules 450mg three times a day to help stop my hyperhidrosis excessive sweating. Can someone tell me if they are bad for men to take? Sounds like they make estrogen, which I dont want too much of dominating my body. Is it safe for me and will it kill my sex drive?
