Coming Clean About Excessive Sweating To Your Parents

Hi Emma,

I'm very glad that you asked this question. There's probably lots of people suffering with this same dilemma.

First of all, since you're only 13, there's a very good chance that this problem will disappear by itself. A very good chance. I know it's hard, but for the time being, just try not to care about it so much. Be open about it. Because it's not your fault. And you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Second, definitely tell your mom. Even if you're not very close with her, she loves you. You are the same as her, you came from her, and that's how she feels about you, whether she shows you or not. Tell her, and when you do, I bet you'll see her concern. She wants you to be happy.

Sometimes our problems, like excessive sweating, turn out to be blessings in disguise. Like right now the sweating disease seems like the worst thing that can happen. But when you tell your mom, I bet you'll become closer with her a little. Even though it will be awkward at first, I bet that by the end of the day, you'll have a closer bond with her. So, what I'm getting at is that this could be the beginning of a closer relationship with your mom, which would be good for you.

Third, is that what the doctor gives you will more than likely cure your sweating. They're going to give you a prescription antiperspirant that is stronger than what you can get in stores. If it doesn't help you after a couple months, and you still need help, there are tons of things you can try.
